I lived in Mali with my husband and two little boys for more than 2 years — 25 years ago — and while Fatoumata's sound is unique (and lovely), the sound of Mali is unmistakable. This is the very first time that I've missed Mali. Bittersweet memories. My little boy's very first words were in Bambara. My husband and I couldn't understand why we couldn't understand what he was trying to say… until our nanny ('nounou'), Badialo, stuck her head out of the kitchen and told me (in French) that he was speaking Bambara — the native language that she spoke with the gardener all day long, and which our little Sebastian had picked up. Sweet moments from a lifetime ago — brought back in a moment, by Fatou's lovely music. Merci beaucoup, Fatou.

  12. According to the third law of Hermetic principles wich is the same as Brahmanism, all vives in this universe, nothing stands still. Everything is energy in a state of vibration flowing inside a frequency. If we must make an equation about what music is and wich is wich component I could affirm you this… Instrument is frequency, sound is vibration and musician is energy. All this put togheter makes one of the most beautiful marvels mankind could ever discover, music. But to make music you need a "plus", wich is the magic every being has/is. We are creators and as so, music is all ive mention before plus the uniqueness of the being (the soul of the musician) put in this mixture, the being is the craftman of the "rithm" wich is the final ingredient needed to make music birht. Fatoumata´s music is a reflection of her soul, being, experiences, feelings. I must say I found them beautiful.
